Working along side True Digital, The White Balance created the 3D interactive visuals for the recently launched California Shutters website, part of the established TCMM group. Each Shutter and Blind ranges were modelled in extreme detail, providing True with fully editable parts for the colour and dimension interactive tool featured on the site.
Itís been an absolute pleasure working with TWB, they have constantly over delivered when working to tight timescales and the work produced has been fantastic - our clients were delighted with the CGI animations, in particular the rigorous attention to detail. The whole team clearly have great understanding and appreciation of home furnishings.

Interchangeable Digital DIY…
The California Shutter Company is the UK’s leading DIY shutter company, providing high quality self-install wooden shutters to a national DIY chain, as well as direct to customers.
Their sister company The Shutter Store, based in Las Vegas, USA, is a premier DIY shutter supplier in the US.
True Digital were appointed to re grow the on-line brand, SEO activity and of course a shiny new interactive website for the UK/US and global markets.
The White Balance provided over eight thousand individual 3D assets plus CGI product shots and bespoke shutter/blind options for the front end team at True. Working alongside the digital team both studios coordinated and synchronized a cloud workflow that proved to be effective and successful.
So how did we do it?...
We were issued with full size shutters, blinds, hinges and parts that were then accurately scanned to produce exact 3D replica's to scale in the 3D software. This allowed us complete control when viewing the tiniest detail down to the millimetre.
Subsequent stages involved replicating hundreds of sample finishes and textures including new ranges. By simulating a realistic studio set up and lighting rig we were able to mirror the look and feel of the textures applied to the product in that environment.
Finally exporting the renders by writing unique automated scripts resulted in thousands of separate images being created. The front end team at True created an interactive site allowing the user to pick any range, colour or wood stain and input their specific dimensions in real time for a complete consumer experience.
We look forward in taking this process further to extended possibilities of combining 3D and UX.
